Service Guidelines

Getting the Most From Your Recycling Service

Feel free to Contact Us for any additional questions about our service.

Types of Recyclable Materials Accepted

  • Paper and cardboard
  • Glass bottles, glassware
  • Plastic bottles and containers
  • Aluminum cans
  • Steel cans
  • Alkaline batteries: AA, AAA, C, D, and 9-volt types only.  No rechargeables, please.

Pickup Guidelines

  • Customers must have the necessary receptacles to store recyclables without overflowing or spilling onto the ground.  These may be trash cans or rectangular bins.  Loose items left on the ground may not be collected.
  • During pickup days, the recycling receptacles must be readily available at the designated locations between 8am and 8pm.
  • Please keep paper and cardboard separate.  All other recyclables may be mixed as a single stream.
  • All recyclables must follow the Kent County recycling guidelines attached below.  Read more at: www.kentcounty.com/environmental/recycling-waste
  • If the locations or availability change, please contact Neighborhood Recycling to coordinate.

Helpful Hints

  • Keep paper and cardboard dry.  Soaking wet paper and cardboard are difficult to pick up and recyclers can’t work with it.  Paper products cannot be recycled if they get wet from rain or other items that may spill onto it.
  • Empty and rinse out containers, especially those with chemicals.
  • Collapse plastic bottles and aluminum cans to conserve space.

Terms of Service

This agreement is a quarter-to-quarter contract for the services described above.  Either customer or Neighborhood Recycling can terminate the contract at any time.  Services are required to be paid in full on a quarterly basis before services are rendered.

If there is a significant change in recycling volume or other costs associated with recycling collection, Neighborhood Recycling will consult with the customer to discuss a change in service rate to ensure an outstanding service experience.
